The first part of this breathtaking hike will lead you to Bettmeralp. The next step begins at the Bettmerhorn viewpoint, which is a short two-minute walk from the Bettmerhorn cable-car mountain station at an elevation of 2,647m. Initially, the trail descends gently via “Uf de Setzu” towards Roti Chumma. Throughout this part of the route, you will have constant views of the magnificent Great Aletsch Glacier, and with each step, you will get closer to it.
Following the path carved into the rock, which includes stone steps, you will head towards Märjela, Märjelensee, and the “Gletscherstube” mountain hut.
To return to the sunny plateau of the Aletsch Arena, you can choose to take either the Unneres Tälli or Oberes Tälli paths (or you can opt for a shortcut by going through the illuminated Tälligrattunnel, which is approximately one kilometer long). Proceed until you reach Salzgäb, and then follow the downhill path towards Fiescheralp.
